Dawsonville selects Benefit Support Inc. as health-insurance broker, authorizes plan bank account

The Dawsonville City Council on Nov. 3 approved Benefit Support Inc. as the city’s health-insurance broker for the Dec. 2025–Nov. 2026 plan year and authorized opening a bank account tied to the plan.

Finance Director Robin Gazzaway told council staff narrowed proposals to Benefit Support and UnitedHealthcare and recommended Benefit Support Inc. because the firm is based in Gainesville, is locally available for service, and will honor the Northeast Georgia provider network that most city employees prefer. Representatives from Benefit Support were present and available to answer questions.

Councilmember Eells moved to approve Benefit Support; Councilmember Caleb Phillips seconded. Council also approved a motion to open a bank account for the plan’s administration. Staff will proceed to finalize broker agreements and administrative steps consistent with council’s approvals.
