County approves $93,635 contract for upgraded surveillance cameras at police and fire headquarters

DeKalb County’s IRPS committee approved a purchasing action to acquire indoor and outdoor cameras and sensors to upgrade video surveillance systems at police and fire headquarters. The purchase was awarded to Convergent Technologies LLC under a statewide competitively procured contract, for an amount not to exceed $93,635.

The police chief explained the upgrade moves systems from analog to IP networks and is a joint effort with the county’s Department of Information Technology. “This purchase is for the video surveillance and security systems at both police headquarters and fire headquarters,” the chief said, adding the work is intended to provide modernized coverage for both facilities.

Commissioners asked clarifying questions; no objections were raised and the committee approved the item by voice vote.
