Residents press planning staff on Rotary Park–River’s Edge connection in comprehensive plan

During the public hearing on the comprehensive plan, residents asked staff about a proposed connection between Rotary Park and River’s Edge. Lisa Koenigs, a Menomonee Falls resident, asked whether the Rotary–River’s Edge connection remains in the plan and how priorities would be set. Amy Bennett, village planner, confirmed the link is included in the village’s outdoor recreation plan (adopted by the Village Board in March) and described it as a recommended connection that would likely require easements from private property owners.

Josh Beneshek, who lives on Parkview Drive adjacent to River’s Edge Park, told the commission that existing routes already connect Rotary Park along Fond du Lac Avenue to his street and expressed concern about routing a new path through woods and floodplain that wash out seasonally. Bennett said alternate approaches — including a boardwalk or delayed implementation — are possible and invited the residents to discuss details with staff after the meeting.

Bennett encouraged residents to use the planning office and the village website for follow‑up and provided contact options for further conversations about alignment and easement strategies.
