Grand Rapids launches DART EV car share; fleet grows after strong early demand

Grand Rapids City promoted its DART electric vehicle car share program, which launched in October 2024 as an affordable option for short-term rentals. The program charges $5 per hour and was described as having more than 200 active users; officials said initial demand exceeded the original seven-vehicle fleet, prompting an expansion to nine vehicles. Cars are located downtown in the Western Commerce and Government Center ramps and in neighborhood lots at West Fulton, Burton Heights, Madison Square and Easttown, the recap said.
