Pequannock to migrate historical student records to Genesis; staff outline parent training and interim RealTime fixes

During the consent agenda discussion on FFA items, administrators described the district's plan to transition from the current student information system (RealTime) to Genesis and to migrate historical records so parents will retain access to their students’ full record.

Staff said Genesis will "house all those different documents that you need to sign off on" and that they shared a nine‑minute guided video used in another district to help parents navigate the new portal. The district plans an August push to capture parent attention and a September follow‑up to train students. Staff also said they will import historical data from RealTime into Genesis so parents and students can see prior report cards and records.

Board members and parents at the meeting described current limitations in RealTime access at the high school level (missing past report cards, grade point averages and state scores in certain views). Staff acknowledged those issues and said they were working to add more interim data to RealTime while the migration is scheduled. The presenters noted the transition requires an approved purchase order and that Genesis will not begin transition work until the district executes procurement steps for the 2026–27 budget year.

Board members asked about the scale of work and about Frontline (a separate HR/Personnel system) if the district pursues it; staff warned that Frontline implementation is labor intensive and would require prompt work if chosen. The board approved the FFA package at the meeting; staff said they will identify and patch migration bugs during testing and keep the board informed.
