Commissioners approve pursuing acquisition of adjacent City-owned land for Topside Manor storage

Sherman County commissioners voted to pursue acquiring a narrow parcel owned by the City of Goodland adjacent to Topside Manor to create extra storage and a buffer for county long-term care operations.

Topside Manor representatives said the parcel would allow space for a modest storage building to relieve clutter in the facility’s existing garage and to stage items such as beds and support equipment. Commissioners moved to seek discussions with the city about purchase or donation of the small strip of land and authorized staff to contact City of Goodland officials to determine terms.

No funds were appropriated at the meeting; commissioners indicated acquisition negotiations would return to the board for approval if terms were proposed. The county’s motion to pursue the land passed unanimously.
