Commission approves rate notices, monthly billing for nine water companies owned by Edward Crooks, effective May 1

The Public Service Commission on April 30 accepted revised tariff pages and a customer notice filed by nine water companies owned by Edward Crooks, with an effective date of May 1, 2025.

Commission staff said the companies filed revised tariff pages on April 24 to implement new rates authorized by commission order 91617 and the settlement in case number 9750. Staff reviewed the tariff pages and the proposed customer notice — which explains new rates and a change from quarterly to monthly billing — and concluded both comply with the requirements set in order 91617. Staff recommended the commission accept the revised tariff pages for filing with the effective date of May 1, 2025 and allow the companies to use the customer notice to communicate the changes.

Brock Miller of the Office of People's Counsel told the commission OPC reviewed the notice language at each stage of the process and was satisfied with the notice and the tariff change. Paul Blois, counsel for the water companies, said the notices had been mailed to all customers since the April 24 filing and that the tariff pages would be posted on the companies' website the same day as the meeting.

Commissioner Linton moved to accept the revised tariff pages for filing with an effective date of May 1, 2025. Commissioners Sussman and Richard voted aye and the chair cast an aye vote; the motion carried unanimously.

Staff identified the filing as linked to commission order 91617 and the settlement in case number 9750; the companies filed a proposed notice to advise customers regarding the new rates and billing frequency.
