Boulder authority approves Lifetime entertainment-facility liquor license at 1821 30th Street

The Boulder Beverage Licensing Authority on June 18 voted to grant an entertainment-facility liquor license to LTF Club Operations Company Inc., doing business as Lifetime, at 1821 30th Street, Boulder.

Petitioning submitted by Liquor Pros showed 107 signatures in support (56 business signatures, 51 residents). Carol Johnson of Liquor Pros described the methodology: 445 contact attempts, with 107 signatures obtained; 56 business signatures were 100% supportive and residents signed in favor at roughly 50 percent of attempts among residents contacted. Johnson told the authority there was one resident in opposition who did not provide a reason.

Jared Cogswell, the proposed on-site manager, described the operation and controls. Lifetime plans a mix of fitness, sports and recreation with a bistro/cafe and a pool deck that will operate seasonally. Cogswell said the club will require TIPS and ServSafe training for staff, will check IDs for anyone who appears under roughly age 40, will not accept vertical IDs for immediate service, and will restrict alcohol to defined indoor and outdoor areas with signage and staff monitoring. He said food will account for roughly 85% of sales during peak (pool) season and alcohol 10–15%; seating capacity was given as about 78. The applicant stressed that membership and guest policies limit access.

Board members praised the applicant's alcohol policy and training program. "The alcohol policy was like the best I've ever seen," one member said. The authority voted to approve; Member Roberts moved to approve and Member Carr seconded. The vote was unanimous among members present.
