Lakeville Open Space Committee approves planning-board revisions and adopts 10-year timeline

The Lakeville Open Space Committee on July 3 voted unanimously to accept edits proposed by the town planning board and to adopt a 10-year action timeline for the town open-space plan.

Committee members said the change follows updated guidance from the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation that allows open-space plans to cover 10 years instead of five. Committee member Joan said she would submit the planning-board revisions to town staff for incorporation and that the revised plan will be returned to DCR for review.

Committee members discussed the mechanics of finalizing the document and the need for a formal committee vote after the edits are incorporated. A motion to accept the planning-board changes and the 10-year timeframe was made and seconded. The committee voted in favor; no members opposed.

Committee members said the town planner, Tracy, will coordinate any remaining edits and the next submission to DCR. The committee also discussed distributing copies of the final plan once DCR completes review.

The committee placed the updated plan on the record and moved on to other agenda items.
