The Carpinteria Architectural Review Board reviewed proposed front-entry and exterior color revisions for a largely rebuilt single-family residence at 5557 Ky Arena during its July 31 meeting and offered informal support for the changes.
Staff described the application as a post‑permit revision to a project that had been essentially a nearly complete rebuild. The applicant explained that the proposed change removes a previously approved secondary roof over the entry and substitutes transom windows above the door while switching exterior wood elements from a gray‑brown to a warmer “honey teak” stain. Staff said the warmer wood tone would better match a planned bamboo decking element and recommended the board’s input on the roof and color changes.
Board members broadly supported the simplification of the roofline and the color change. Board Member Little said eliminating the clerestory windows
