Councilmember Lee launches $200,000 'Street Smart' pilot for faster sidewalk repairs in Granada Hills

Councilmember John Lee introduced a new pilot program to accelerate sidewalk repairs in the northwest San Fernando Valley, announcing an initial investment of $200,000 to start work in Granada Hills.

“...the pilot program known as Street Smart will begin in Granada Hills with an initial investment of $200,000,” Lee said. He described the program as a council‑office‑run effort that will use small crews to deliver faster and lower‑cost repairs, with the goals of reducing trip hazards and long‑term costs.

According to statements made on the council floor, the pilot is intended to proactively repair sidewalk damage before it worsens, to make neighborhoods safer and to lower long‑term maintenance costs. Council staff directed viewers to Council District 12’s website for additional information and contact details.

No council vote was required to launch the pilot; the announcement was presented as a councilmember initiative and informational item during the presentations portion of the meeting.
