Dave Lipinski, the town’s capital improvement projects director, briefed the Queen Creek Town Council on the town’s quarterly CIP update, reporting several completed items and projects under construction.
Lipinski said the traffic signal at Riggs Road and Harvest Lake Drive was activated the morning of the report and that a second signal at Queen Creek and 2 Twentieth (near the former Barney Complex) is active with minor punch‑list work remaining. "This signal is now active," he said of Riggs and Harvest Lake Drive, and added the Queen Creek/2 Twentieth signal is also active.
Construction highlights: Lipinski said the roundabout at Cloud Road and Chrisman is complete and the Chrisman extension to the high school is open, easing school traffic. Work at the Barney Complex (the town’s repurposed facility for public safety) is progressing: a second story is framed, interior rooms are forming, electrical gear was received earlier than expected and shaded outdoor kennels for the canine facility are coming soon. He said the project is on track for completion toward the end of the calendar year.
Utility and LG site work: The town is finishing multiple water and sewer segments, including a nearly completed 24‑inch water line on Germaine Road that was advanced to pass the high school before classes began. Lipinski described ongoing coordination with LG Energy Solutions; staff is working with LG to bring a traffic signal into service in advance of some construction use to provide safer employee access while construction continues.
Council response: Council Member McClure thanked staff for the presentation and made a lighthearted comment about volunteering to test the shooting range. No policy or budget actions were taken at the meeting; the presentation served as a quarterly informational update.
Next steps: Staff will continue design work across nearly 30 projects in various stages and return to council with project‑specific contract awards, timelines and any budget requests as those items reach construction readiness.
