Commission hears development plan for convenience store and fuel canopy at Gaston Avenue and West Fairview

Brad Flowers of Flowers and White Engineering presented a development plan for a convenience store with a food/restaurant unit and fuel pumps at the former National Linen service site at the southwest corner of Gaston Avenue and West Fairview.

Flowers said the developer envisions a single building with two units (one a convenience store/restaurant-type unit) and fueling canopies front and rear. He described the proposal as following common modern convenience-store models with enhanced interior amenities and food options.

Commissioners asked technical questions about access, canopy layout and whether pumps would be front and rear; Flowers confirmed pumps are planned both front and rear. Staff noted the property is already zoned B-2 and that there were no zoning issues at the time of the presentation. A public hearing was held and the applicant thanked the commission.
