District reports hiring of 352 new employees for upcoming school year; most certified positions filled

Barrow County Schools presented a hiring summary at the Sept. 30 work session saying the district has hired 352 new employees for the 2025–26 school year.

Ms. Megan McNally reported that among the hires were approximately 110 certified employees and 49 after-school employees and coaches; staff said the district has filled most positions and had two certified vacancies remaining at the time of the report. Staff described onboarding activities offered over the summer, including optional in-person sessions where new employees received equipment and accounts, and a new-teacher orientation preceding the start of school; the district reported 192 employees attended in-person onboarding and 186 new teachers attended orientation.

Superintendent's staff said ongoing recruitment will continue with virtual job fairs and classified job fairs this fall, and a student-teacher recruitment event to retain prospective hires. No action was required; the report was informational.
