Representatives of the Arkansas Department of Health told the committee they were presenting four licensure programs for review: orthotic/prosthetic assistant, orthotist/prosthetist, pedorthist and perfusionist.
Craig Smith of the Arkansas Department of Health presented the report. Smith said the first three programs (orthotic/prosthetic assistant, orthotist/prosthetist and related pedorthic licenses) are administered by the department with consultation from the Orthotic, Prosthetic and Pedorthic Board and that those programs license roughly 368 individuals statewide. He said pedorthists and perfusionists are also licensed by the department, with about 111 licensees for the latter category across the state.
Representative Richardson asked whether fees for the licensure programs have remained around $100. Smith replied that the fee for each licensure program “have been set and had been since the licensure was established” and have not changed. When pressed about how long that has been in place, Smith gave a start date of “02/2008.”
The committee did not request further action. “Without objection this report stands as reviewed,” the chair said.
