Board confirms representatives to LCOG, Springfield Education Foundation and Wildish Theater

The board discussed the three representative positions the district fills with board members — Lane Council of Governments (LCOG), the Springfield Education Foundation (SEF) and the Wildish Theater — and confirmed who will continue in each role.

Director Cole said he will continue serving as the district representative to LCOG and noted LCOG’s role in countywide programs such as Safe Routes to School and transportation and senior services. Director DeGraff said he would continue as the district representative to the Springfield Education Foundation, which funds classroom grants and supports music, art and playground projects. Director Quazanza said she will continue as the district’s representative to the Wildish Theater board and described her fundraising and stewardship work there.

Board members encouraged other directors to “tag along” to observe the organizations’ work if they are interested. Directors also asked staff to confirm meeting days and times for the Wildish board (noted as possibly the last Wednesday of the month, noon–1 p.m.) and to circulate calendar reminders.

Why it matters: These outside roles connect the school board to regional planning (LCOG), local philanthropic support for classrooms (SEF), and a community arts facility in which the district holds minority ownership (Wildish Theater).
