Board approves minutes, bills and a library board appointment; HR reports multiple recruitments

County administration presented routine items on Oct. 21. The board approved the Oct. 7 minutes and authorized payment of the biweekly bills by voice vote.

Human Resources reported several personnel actions and recruitments: a voluntary demotion transferring a case aide to a property environmental-resources specialist (with wage adjustment); initiation of recruitment to fill two quarter-time library clerk positions; recruitment to replace a resigned 9-1-1 telecommunicator; recruitment for a case aide in children's services; recruitment for a licensed practical nurse in the mental health center (external recruitment); and recruitment for a senior account clerk in human services' billing area (internal recruitment).

The board also considered a library board recommendation to replace Joel Van Loon, who relocated, with Linda Lighting of Lake Crystal; commissioners noted Lighting's local-school involvement and her past service as president of the Minnesota School Boards Association. The board approved Lighting's appointment to a three-year term beginning Jan. 2026.
