The borough engineer reported several capital and maintenance projects under way or pending in Kenilworth.
A pre-construction meeting was held this week for the walking path at Tamara Park; the contractor, engineer and borough officials surveyed the area and the engineer said construction is expected to begin after Nov. 1 to avoid conflicts with ongoing sports events and to be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting. The engineer said paving projects are weather-dependent and can sometimes proceed into December if conditions allow.
The engineer said the 2025 New Jersey Department of Transportation roads project will be awarded soon and likely brought to the council at the next meeting with a recommendation. Bids for parking-lot improvements across and behind the municipal building were due the day after the meeting.
Councilman Boyle reported that the last scheduled 2025 bulk pickup for residents on the borough’s north side is Friday, Oct. 10. The Department of Public Works also reported staffing and overtime metrics for September.
No formal actions were taken during the report; the items described are at the procurement and pre-construction stages and will return to the council for awards or further action as required.
