The Imperial Beach City Council approved routine business items and two proclamations during its Oct. 1 meeting.
Consent calendar: The council approved the consent calendar by motion (mover: Councilmember Fisher; second: Mayor Pro Tem Seabury). City clerk Kelly announced the motion carried unanimously.
Filipino American History Month proclamation: Council adopted a proclamation recognizing October 2025 as Filipino American History Month in Imperial Beach. The council moved and seconded the proclamation and carried the motion unanimously; Mayor McKay invited a photo opportunity for community members following the vote.
Indigenous Peoples' Day proclamation: Council adopted a proclamation recognizing Indigenous Peoples' Day honoring the Kumeyaay and other indigenous peoples; the motion (moved by Councilmember Fisher, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Seabury) carried unanimously. The council invited representatives of the Kumeyaay community to accept the proclamation and offered brief remarks.
Other routine business: The council also approved the consent calendar and moved on to other agenda items, including public hearings and the appointment process for the District 3 vacancy covered elsewhere in this package.
