Local aviators brief advisory board on youth outreach and Young Eagles event

Two local aviation representatives used the public-comment period to describe youth outreach and small-airfield events.

The remarks matter because they highlight community engagement efforts that feed the pipeline of future pilots and promote general-aviation awareness in Citrus County.

Kyle Mansfield, representing Wright Redder Aviation, said he is a certified flight instructor and a lifelong Citrus County resident. Mansfield described his work training new pilots with a focus on safety and his involvement as a Young Eagles rally pilot and in-school outreach efforts. He said keeping aviation “available and as affordable as possible” is a priority and thanked the board for its work.

Jeff Rogers, representing EAA Inverness, said the chapter will hold another Young Eagles event on the 25th of the month and that about eight pilots have committed. He said the chapter is maintaining a display booth at the downtown market for aviation awareness and noted regular depot activities and meetings.
