Board approves change order reducing South Fork Junior High contract by $117,818.59

The Livingston Parish School Board approved Change Order No. 1 for the South Fork Junior High School project after the project's professional of record described nine items that produced a net credit to the construction contract.

Zeiler Architects’ representative told trustees the change order contained four credits and five extras largely tied to additional soil stabilization (lime treatment) in several areas and deletions requested by district staff — including deleting certain access controls and lightning protection. The firm reported a net contract decrease of $117,818.59. The new contract sum after the change order was stated as $21,351,181.41.

The architect reported the project was “considerably under budget” at the time of the report and answered trustee questions about the site work. The board approved the change order by motion and voice vote following a motion and second.

The board’s approval authorizes the contractor and design team to proceed under the revised contract sum; the board did not record any additional conditions or amendments in the meeting minutes.
