Public works staff informed the Bourbon County Commission on Oct. 14 that a new all-aluminum trailer was available through the Sourcewell cooperative contract for about $93,000 — roughly $8,000 more than the used trailer the commission had approved earlier. The department recommended the Sourcewell purchase because the trailer is on the ground and includes a two-year warranty.
Dustin Hall said the new trailer’s construction matches the county’s existing trailers and will ease landfill operations by allowing rotation while the county repairs an older trailer with a hydraulic leak. Commissioners asked questions about warranties and the materials; Hall confirmed a two-year full warranty on structural components (excluding tires and bulbs), and the county judge or procurement liaison said the purchase is within the department’s budget.
Commissioner Micah Milbern moved to approve the Sourcewell purchase; the board seconded and approved the motion. Staff said shipping adds about $2,500 and that the unit could ship from Randolph, Ohio.
