The Colony City Council on Jan. 7 approved a construction services contract in the amount of $4,452,376 with La Bridal LLC for the Phase 14B residential street reconstruction project.
Public Works staff presented the project scope, which includes full reconstruction of three street segments (Larner Street between FM 423 and Curry Drive, King Circle in its entirety, and Dunn Boulevard from Independence back to Independence), replacement of storm drains, water and wastewater mains, and street-lighting upgrades. The design engineer’s estimate and reference checks were provided to council; staff recommended awarding the contract to the lowest responsible bidder and reported an anticipated start in February 2025 with a projected completion date in April 2026.
The city’s financial summary shows engineering services of $296,499 and a total project budget of $4,748,875 when added to the construction contract. Council approved the contract during the regular agenda; the transcript indicates the motion and second were made and the item passed.
Staff displayed photos and described pavement distress—large cracks, ponding and multiple repairs—on the streets included in the project to justify the reconstruction.
With approval, staff will proceed with contract execution and scheduling and will coordinate utility and traffic impacts with residents as construction begins next February.
