Committee tables Selamar Realty special permit again after applicant waives 90-day deadline

The Development & Government Relations Committee on Monday voted to table a long-pending special permit application from Selamar Realty, continuing the item’s multi-meeting delay.

Committee members reported that the public hearing on the application closed previously and that the file has been before the committee repeatedly since June 2023. The committee chair said an email was received waiving the 90-day action deadline; the chair proposed leaving the item on the table "until we get a new communication from Lovesch Associates," the committee's consultant, so it does not appear on each agenda until new material arrives.

Committee members expressed frustration about the repeated postponements and said the city cannot unilaterally withdraw the application — only the applicant can withdraw. Options discussed were to deny, continue to keep it on the table, or allow the applicant to refile. The committee moved to table the item and the motion passed.

The committee recorded no new substantive staff updates at this meeting and directed staff to keep the item placed on the table until the applicant or their representative provides further information.
