Todd County approves $3.85 million in auditor warrants; Long Prairie Leader named official newspaper; Unity Bank added to depositories

The Todd County Board voted to approve auditor warrants for December 2024 totaling $3,848,087.37. The auditor/treasurer presented the warrants and requested approval; the motion passed on a roll call in which Commissioners Becker, Newman, Denny, Nasca and Byers recorded "yes."

The board also opened and accepted a single bid for legal publication. The Long Prairie Leader submitted a joint bid (on behalf of itself, the Independent News Herald of Clarissa and the Staples World of Staples) offering $18 per column inch to serve as the county's official newspaper for 2025; the board approved that designation by motion. The Long Prairie Leader additionally submitted a bid of $13 per column inch for extra publication of financial statements and extra proceedings; the board approved that bid as well.

In a separate motion the board approved its annual designation of depositories, investments and electronic fund transfer designees and added Unity Bank to the list of authorized financial institutions. The auditor noted Unity Bank was not on the previously circulated attachment and asked for it to be added.

Consent items approved earlier in the meeting included hiring two social workers (Ashlyn Liske and Christine Lorenz) and approval of meeting minutes for Dec. 30, 2024, as listed in the consent agenda.
