Warrenton wins Pink Night girls game, outpaces Winfield 53-42

Warrenton High School's girls varsity team defeated visiting Winfield 53-42 at Warrenton High School during the school's Pink Night celebration, announcers said. The game served both as a Gateway Athletic Conference North matchup and a community cancer-awareness event.

Warrenton trailed early after Winfield opened with an 8-0 run but turned the game in the second quarter. Warrenton outscored Winfield 19-7 in the second quarter to take control, a swing the announcers described as driven by improved defensive intensity and better rebounding.

The game also included a halftime recognition: alumna Beth Puff Lukey, a breast cancer survivor, was honored and spoke about her diagnosis and recovery during halftime remarks. According to the halftime remarks, Lukey was diagnosed after a routine mammogram, underwent surgery and radiation, and finished radiation in November 2024; friends and family joined team members in acknowledging her recovery.
