District administrators reported that major summer capital projects mostly finished in time for the start of school but that a few items remained to be completed, including warehouse windows and finishing work on fire alarm systems.
Jesse provided the update and thanked contractors and district building-and-grounds staff for summer efforts, saying the work helped staff and students return to classrooms. “I think they did an awesome job,” Jesse said when describing newly completed parking lots and the overall contractor performance. He noted some outstanding items: “I believe there's some windows that need to be put in at the warehouse. Some of the fire alarms are not finished. They'll be doing that after hours. Again, we will not be switching those over until, it's working and we test it.”
Board members asked for more detail about roof replacements and when specific projects were last done, particularly at the middle school. One board member asked for the building-and-grounds committee to provide dates and scope (full roof versus partial repairs) at the next meeting; staff said Schoolhouse is preparing estimates and the district will provide a history of previous roof work. The band room roof was identified in the transcript as having been done last year.
Why it matters: Facilities readiness affects safety and the daily learning environment; outstanding items such as alarms and windows require completion and testing before systems are fully operational.
Follow-up requested
Board members asked staff to return with a timeline and records showing when roof work was last performed and what remaining tasks (warehouse windows, alarm completion and testing) will be scheduled for completion. Administrators said they would route specific community questions to the appropriate staff and provide updates.
Contractor credit
Administrators singled out contractor Schoolhouse and a team member, Bill Schramm, for summer work that prepared buildings for reopening.
