The commission voted to authorize the finance director to open a Cash App business account for concession-stand operations and to open a dedicated Lone Star National Bank account to receive deposits from the Cash App.
Staff framed the request as a first step to reduce on-site cash handling at park concession stands and events. The finance director explained the plan would help avoid carrying large sums of cash and said the city is also discussing credit-card readers with the local bank so concession stands could accept Apple Pay, Square, or other card readers in the future.
The motion approved opening the Cash App account and creating a dedicated bank account at Lone Star National Bank to receive Cash App revenues. Commissioners discussed whether the motion should be broadened to include other payment platforms; the legal and finance staff said the current agenda item authorized only Cash App and the specific bank link, and staff will pursue additional card-reader options through the local bank separately.
The motions carried unanimously.
