A board representative reported to the Architectural Review Board that they attended meetings with urbanist Jeff Speck on May 22–23 as the city’s representative on the Main Street design-guidelines committee. The representative said Speck praised Bexley’s one-mile Main Street and its pedestrian improvements, and described follow-up planning and guideline work that will continue with city staff.
The representative said Speck’s presentations drew good public interest and that the author’s implementation-focused publication will be used as a reference as the city develops specific design guidance for curb cuts, sidewalk and street-edge improvements. The representative said staff and committee members will reconvene to translate those ideas into locally tailored guidelines and will report back to the ARB as the process moves forward.
No formal action was required; the report was an informational update.
