The city approved a commercial façade grant for a downtown storefront on May 8, awarding up to $1,762 toward a $3,524 sign project at 18559 High Springs Main Street.
The grant, presented to the board by city staff, covers up to 50% of eligible façade improvement costs. A staff member said, “The cost the total cost of the project will be $3,524. And, we we do up to 50%, so that would be 1,762.” The applicants were identified in the meeting as Bridal and Jody Huey.
Commission members discussed the store’s contribution to downtown appearance and the applicant’s prior façade work on the building. After a motion to accept the grant, the board voted in favor. The vote was recorded as in the affirmative by all members present.
The grant will fund part of a new sign; no other funding sources or additional conditions were stated in the meeting record. The item was handled as a single consent-style action and no separate attachments or amendments to the award were recorded during the session.
The city did not attach further implementation deadlines or follow-up tasks in the discussion; staff will proceed consistent with the city’s façade grant program procedures.
