The South Charleston City Council voted to pass a resolution authorizing the sale of surplus city property through Garage Technology Inc.'s online platform.
The resolution, read into the record by Marjorie, authorizes use of Garage Technology Inc., and the council approved the measure after a motion and second. Marjorie read the resolution language to the council: "A resolution to authorize the sale of surplus property in in the city of South Charleston using Garage Technology Inc, w w w dot with garage dot com." The council then voted to approve the resolution.
Councilman Marker told members he had circulated a revised agreement and flagged contract changes tied to applicable state law; he said staff member Rick was handling some of the contract edits and asked if Hannah had anything to add. "There were a couple changes for the, laws that would be applied to the contracts," Councilman Marker said. The council discussed that the executed contract would be the single document attached to the resolution.
Council members noted the platform has been used for similar apparatus sales in the past, and one council member described the online sale process as appropriate for selling certain types of equipment, including fire apparatus. The motion carried after the required second and an affirmative voice vote.
The resolution does not specify sale prices or schedules in the version read aloud; those details will be handled through the vendor platform and by city staff as part of the execution process.
