School principals reported end‑of‑year activities and testing updates to the Austintown Local Schools Board on May 15, including celebrations, graduations and summer programming.
At Austintown Elementary School (AES), staff and PTA organized grade‑level fun days, a first‑grade author’s tea and end‑of‑year performances; summer school will begin June 2 for students identified as most at risk in kindergarten through second grade. At Austintown Intermediate School (AIS), end‑of‑year activities included food trucks, field trips and a fifth‑grade graduation. Austintown Middle School (AMS) shared recent band and choir concerts and a career day.
Fitch High School reported more than 420 Advanced Placement exams administered across 18 classes and said state end‑of‑course exam results showed growth across content areas other than English; the principal said the district expects to see similar positive results when English scores are processed. The principal also noted senior‑week events, including a senior breakfast and graduation practice, and said commencement is scheduled for Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Principals publicly thanked PTA volunteers and community career‑day participants for supporting students. The board did not take formal action in response to the reports; the updates were presented as informational items.
