The Scottsdale Development Review Board approved a consent-item site plan for Cosanti Commons, a proposed 189-unit multifamily building that is part of a larger mixed-use development at 7000 East Shea Boulevard, voting 6-0 to adopt the staff-recommended stipulations and to add a requirement that the applicant work with staff on final color and roof-profile material selections.
The project, described in staff materials as a 189-unit multifamily building on a roughly 8.6-acre parcel within a planned shared district, was recommended for approval with standard DRB stipulations. During the consent discussion a board member asked the applicant to come forward to answer a brief question about color and roof profile representation in the renderings. Laura Eder of ESG Architects, speaking for the applicant, and staff said they had already discussed material selections in a pre-hearing meeting and that the applicant had brought building materials for review.
A motion to approve the case included a supplemental stipulation "to work with staff on the color and roof profile detail," and the board recorded a unanimous 6-0 roll call vote to approve the consent item. Councilwoman Kathleen Littlefield (chair) and the other board members answered "Yes" during the roll call.
The approval is contingent on the applicant meeting the DRB criteria and the staff-recommended stipulations; board members directed the applicant to coordinate closely with planning staff on final material palettes and roof details before permit issuance.
No public opposition was recorded in the hearing record for the consent item and staff noted that materials responding to the board's color concerns had been submitted with the packet. The project will proceed to the city's permit-review stages subject to the DRB stipulations and city review processes.
