District shows updated designs for Lincoln and Westbrook; steering committee, community outreach ongoing

District staff updated the board on the Building Brighter Futures program, reporting that schematic design is complete for both Lincoln and Westbrook and design development is approximately 90% complete.

Lincoln’s new building will be three stories with a dedicated academic wing, upgraded science labs, a cafeteria with high ceilings and a secured front office and library area. The project team is refining exterior materials, interior finishes and classroom layouts and is coordinating with village plan reviewers for both sites.

Staff also described an active furniture pilot across district classrooms: 11 classrooms are testing multiple furniture options this year and will expand teacher trials next year. For Lincoln specifically, staff will tape out a mock classroom in the existing library to evaluate furniture, storage and technology in a space sized to match the new classroom footprint.

Community engagement and next steps: The project team hosted community coffees and a steering‑committee review; administration said the design will be presented to the village and the district will continue community outreach as the projects move into final design and permitting. The presentations will continue at monthly meetings and the district expects additional village feedback and subsequent revisions.
