The Livingston County Board on Oct. 16 approved extensions for three zoning cases and signed off on a preliminary plat to divide a 12.05-acre tract in unincorporated Cornell.
The board voted to grant one-year extensions for zoning case SUDash19Dash23 and SUDash20Dash23 and a six-month extension for SUDash15Dash24, all of which were presented by the Ag and Zoning Committee and described as requests tied to utility hookup delays. The board also approved zoning case SFDash2Dash25SAS, a preliminary plat to divide a parcel in Section 27 of Brereton Township to allow continued farming of the remaining acreage.
The Ag and Zoning Committee reported it had reviewed the requests and recommended approval. The county board combined related items a and b for efficiency and handled the remainder sequentially. Committee members described the extensions as necessary because applicants were having difficulty coordinating ComEd hookups and needed additional time to complete decommissioning or other work.
Board members moved and seconded the motions and carried the items via roll-call votes. The Ag and Zoning Committee and the Regional Planning Commission recommended approval of the subdivision preliminary plat for a 12.05-acre tract described in the board materials as being split off from a formerly 80-acre farm; the committee said the remainder will continue to be farmed.
The board chair and committee noted the county’s e‑recycling event will be held Oct. 25 and reminded residents of the drop-off; that announcement followed the zoning discussion.
Background: The zoning cases were handled under standard Ag and Zoning Committee procedures; committee chairs said the extensions respond to utility and timing issues raised by applicants. The preliminary plat had unanimous committee recommendation.
Votes and formal motions were recorded by roll call for each item.
