Committee sends fentanyl-prevention education bill for higher education to full Senate

House Bill 3062, relating to fentanyl prevention and drug-poisoning awareness education for students at public institutions of higher education, was reported favorably out of the Senate Committee on Education K-16 on Jan. 20.

Senator Middleton moved that the bill be reported to the full Senate with a recommendation that it pass and be printed. The clerk conducted a roll call and the transcript shows committee members voting in favor; the chair directed the clerk to show that Senator Paxton was present and voting aye. The chair announced there being nine ayes and no nays and reported the bill favorably to the full Senate.

The committee also moved the bill to the local noncontested calendar without objection. The transcript records the procedural vote and attendance notation but does not include debate or implementation details such as curriculum standards, timelines, or fiscal impacts.
