Supervisors authorize up to $2,500 for county wellness incentives from health insurance fund

The Osceola County Board of Supervisors authorized up to $2,500 from the county’s health insurance fund to support the wellness committee’s local incentive program, matching a similar allocation made the prior year.

A representative of the wellness committee requested funds “similar to last year” to use as incentives. Staff explained the health insurance fund accumulated a balance after the county switched to high-deductible/HSA plans; premiums fell but county-held funding for premiums remained at prior levels, creating available funds.

Supervisor Schulte moved to authorize up to $2,500 from the health insurance fund and Supervisor Loring provided support. The motion carried on an aye vote recorded by the board.

The board recorded the allocation as a maximum amount; supervisors noted the committee may not spend the full $2,500 and that the funds are to be used for wellness incentives and related local programming.
