City previews Christmas Run pool slide concept; two vendor proposals came in under $400,000

During the mayor’s communications at the May 19 Wooster City Council meeting the mayor previewed the concept selected for slide features at the planned Christmas Run pool and reported that two proposals were received and both arrived under $400,000.

The mayor said the Parks & Recreation committee reviewed slide concepts and selected a concept from Vortex Pools to include in the larger pool procurement package. “We were anticipating $500,000 just for the pool,” the mayor said; he noted both slide proposals came in under $400,000 and that the chosen concept will be incorporated into the overall pool design when bids are solicited for the full project.

Council did not take formal action on the pool slide at the May 19 meeting; staff said the slide concept will be finalized as part of the pool design and subsequent procurement steps.
