The Miami Beach City Commission on May 28 presented a proclamation recognizing Alicia A. Casanova for her years of community service and contributions to education.
The proclamation, introduced during the awards and presentations ceremony at Miami Beach City Hall, said Casanova founded a preschool that expanded to elementary and middle school programs across two campuses, served on condominium boards and helped form the Mid Beach Neighborhood Association. The document designates May 28, 2025, as Alicia A. Casanova Day in Miami Beach.
Commissioner Juan D. Dominguez (referred to in the meeting as Commissioner Dominguez) read the proclamation and praised Casanova’s work. Alicia A. Casanova accepted the recognition and told the commission she loves the city and is “honored to do everything in my power to make it better and better every day.”
The presentation noted Casanova’s arrival from Cuba as a child, her longtime leadership roles in private education, and her service as president of condominium associations. The remarks emphasized her civic engagement through the Mid Beach Neighborhood Association and her family ties and commitment to children.
The commission’s recognition was ceremonial and did not include a formal vote. No ordinances, resolutions, or budgetary actions were associated with the proclamation.
The commission continued with other ceremonial recognitions after the presentation, including certificates for other community members.
