Contractors gave the Board of Supervisors an update Wednesday on construction at the new Lancaster High School, reporting progress on poured concrete levels, interior steel fireproofing, and advancing HVAC and electrical rough-in work despite recent rain-related delays.
A project representative told supervisors the construction team is starting work on Level 1 and Level 2 areas and is aiming to achieve a weather-tight roof ("dried in") within the next four weeks so the interior trades can proceed. Drone and site photos presented to the board showed poured concrete at multiple levels, roof drains installed, gypsum application on steel framing and interior layouts where classroom walls and HVAC runs are being marked or installed.
Key areas shown during the update included the auditorium, main gym and the field house; the presenter said work on footings for bleacher relocation has been completed and noted the existing high school bleachers will be moved after the last home game. The project team emphasized interior finish work is weather-dependent and will accelerate once the building is dried in.
Board members asked for clarifications on schedule impact due to rain; contractors reiterated that rain has slowed some exterior work but steady progress continues. No formal action was required; the update was informational and intended to keep the board and public apprised of construction sequencing and upcoming milestones.
