Select board approved Brentwood drainage project pending DRA review of funding eligibility

Brentwood recreation staff told the committee that the town’s drainage project received select-board approval but remains contingent on a Department of Revenue review of fund eligibility.

This update is significant because the DRA review determines whether the proposed funding source can legally pay for the project; that decision must occur before contracts or work dates are finalized.

"Our drainage project a week ago was approved by the select board, pending DRA review," recreation staff said. Staff said they will meet with Andrea to discuss next steps and are awaiting a contact from Glenn Greenwood to coordinate with the DRA. "Basically, the point is it's the Department of Revenue greenlining whether or not the funds we are using are eligible to be used for that project."

Because the town prefers to perform work when field foot traffic is low, staff said the current goal is to schedule the drainage work for July–August, before fall sports begin, but staff cautioned they will not have further updates until June and cannot proceed until DRA confirms eligibility.

No formal contracts or votes were taken at the recreation committee meeting; staff described the select-board approval and the pending DRA review as the current status.
