KBOR staff compile dual‑enrollment cost data as First 15 work group pursues low‑cost model

KBOR staff told the Board of Regents’ Academic and Student Affairs Committee they are collecting data on the actual costs students pay for dual and concurrent enrollment courses as the First 15 initiative shifts from a no‑cost to a low‑cost model.

Dr. Monholland said the First 15 work group has met once under the revised approach and that staff are compiling institution‑specific pricing information for dual/concurrent enrollment courses, including differences by student residency and service area. He set a deadline for institutions to submit data this week and said staff plan a follow‑up meeting of the work group once the data are compiled.

The goal, Monholland said, is to identify a realistic low‑cost model that can be implemented across institutions to make the first 15 credit hours affordable for students. He said the data will help the work group “hammer out some kind of agreement that would let us offer the first 15 at low cost to the students.” No final model or cost figure was presented to the committee at the meeting.
