The board approved an updated policy clarifying graduation requirements for classes spanning 2020 through 2030. The revised policy consolidates several changes adopted over recent years and clarifies how the district will implement state requirements for different cohorts.
The policy restates the validation rules for A–G requirements effective for the class of 2020, notes AB 104 adjustments made during the COVID period (including temporary credit reductions and suspension of certain requirements), and confirms that the CTE/BPA requirement may be satisfied by a single course approved for both pathways beginning with the class of 2023.
The update also adds an exemption pathway for students who transfer in after their third or fourth year from schools that did not offer A–G coursework, clarifies how financial aid and other state requirements will be handled, and records that ethnic studies will be implemented as a graduation requirement starting with the class of 2030. The board made a ministerial correction to previously published date ranges and approved the consolidated policy by motion.
