Spring Hill mayor announces he will withdraw reelection nomination, will finish term

At the May 22 meeting the mayor of Spring Hill announced he will withdraw his nomination for reelection after significant reflection and conversations with family, but he said he will remain in office through the end of his current term.

In a statement to the council and the public, the mayor listed accomplishments from his term, including pursuing broadband expansion, road repairs, sidewalks and trails funding, business recruitment and veterans memorial work. He said multiple projects are underway and that he will continue to advise and serve the community. "I will still be here. I will serve out the remaining days of my term fighting hard for the community of Spring Hill that I love," he said.

Council members thanked the mayor for his service and praised several initiatives he led. The mayor said his decision was made for family reasons and to avoid splitting votes between two similar candidates in the next election; he said he plans to renominate some initiatives and remain available to advise the city. No formal council action was required.
