The Sammamish City Council approved an ordinance June 3 to amend Chapter 2.6 of the Sammamish Municipal Code and clarify the planning commission’s duties and responsibilities.
David Pyle, director of community development, told the council the existing code retained language from the city’s earlier incorporation that no longer reflected how the commission functions or how the council and staff set work plans. The ordinance updates the code to align the planning commission’s role with current practice, including clearer statements about scope, duties and coordination with staff and council.
Council moved and passed the ordinance in a routine vote; Pyle said the changes were discussed with the planning commission in a March workshop and are intended to reduce confusion about the commission’s authority and to improve procedural clarity.
