Park County commissioners voted unanimously Wednesday to approve a professional services agreement with Ryan Kane to serve as a hearing officer for the County Board of Equalization.
The agreement — approved after a motion and voice vote — covers hearing-officer services during the county’s reappraisal year. Commissioners said Kane is a continuing hearing officer the county has used previously and noted the county plans to contract with at least one more hearing officer for the current reappraisal cycle.
Commissioners explained the County Board of Equalization commonly uses hired hearing officers who are appraisers or legal professionals to conduct appeal hearings on property valuations. The county said it does not expect the same volume of appeals seen in 2023 but will add capacity as needed. The board approved the contract by a 3-0 vote.
No additional details of the contract amount were provided on the meeting record; staff said another contractor, Gary Patterson, will be presented at a future meeting.
