Council moves county assessor contract ordinance to next reading

The Fulton City Council advanced Bill 17-51, an ordinance authorizing the mayor and city clerk to execute a contract with the Callaway County assessor and commission to prepare assessment lists for the city.

Council members described the arrangement as a long-standing partnership and said the proposed ordinance does not increase the current fee. "This is a long standing agreement that the city of Fulton has had with Callaway County and the Callaway County assessor. There's no increase to the proposed fee," a council member said.

A motion was made to place Bill 17-51 for reading at the next regular council meeting; the motion carried and the bill will be read and considered at that time. No additional contract details or effective dates were read into the record during the placement motion.

Council members said they support continuation of the partnership with the county assessor for preparation of assessment lists.
