Weld County approves multiple code amendments on reading with no public comment

The Weld County Board of Commissioners on June 2 read and approved several ordinances altering county code language in chapters that include public works, revenue and finance, land-use administration and referral/response correspondence.

Key actions
- Code Ordinance 20 25-05: Repeal and reenact with amendments, chapter 8 (public works) — adds ag land-leveling and ag reservoir dredging permit policy; staff recommended approval on reading. Approved after a public hearing; no public speakers.
- Code Ordinance 20 25-06: Repeal and reenact with amendments, chapter 5 (revenue and finance) — midyear fee changes (clerk and recorder added a $3 death certificate fee); approved on reading after public hearing with no speakers.
- Code Ordinance 20 25-07: Repeal and reenact with amendments, chapter 2 (administration) and chapter 21 (areas and activities of state interest) — minor clarifications, typos corrected and language changes for appeals; approved on reading after public hearing with no speakers.
- Code Ordinance 20 25-09: Repeal and reenact with amendments, chapter 2 (administration) — clarifies referral/response correspondence processes for the clerk and the commissioners' office; staff recommended approval and the board approved on reading.

Staff presentations and public hearing
Ronnie Anderson and Jim Flescher of the Department of Planning Services presented the proposed code language changes for public works and chapter 21 respectively. Jennifer Ofteli, budget manager, presented the fee adjustments. Esther Giesick, clerk to the board, described the administrative changes to referral/response correspondence. Each item was opened for public comment; no members of the public addressed the board on these ordinances.

Action and next steps
Each ordinance was advanced by motion, read by title and approved "on reading" by the board after the public-hearing portion closed with no testimony. Staff said the items will be incorporated into the Weld County code per standard ordinance-adoption procedures.
