Parks department cleared to hire seasonal lifeguards and desk clerk; pool to open June 5

The board approved the parks and recreation department’s request to hire seasonal lifeguards and a desk clerk ahead of the pool opening scheduled for Thursday, June 5.

Michelle (parks director) asked for permission to hire staff with a proposed start date of June 3 and pool opening on June 5. She said lifeguards would be paid $12 per hour and desk clerks $13 per hour. The board approved seasonal hiring by motion. The parks director said the pool operating hours will be 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays, with special events planned in June and July.

The parks director also updated the board on other parks items, including fencing quotes and pavilion repairs pending purchase order closure and contractor availability.
