Supervisors authorize deed transfer to Lazy Magnolia to close out CDBG agreement

Hancock County supervisors voted June 2 to authorize the county attorney and county administrator to execute a deed transferring previously grant-restricted property to Lazy Magnolia, completing requirements tied to a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) closeout.

County staff told the board the CDBG closeout required that, after a five-year look-back period had passed, the county must transfer the property consistent with the grant agreement. The deed transfer will comply with the terms of the CDBG closeout as recorded in the meeting minutes.

The board’s motion to authorize execution of the deed passed 5-0. County staff and the county attorney were authorized to finalize the transfer documents and record them as required for CDBG closeout.

No sale price or other financial consideration was detailed in the reading of the motion at the meeting; the action was recorded as a ministerial step to satisfy the CDBG closeout requirements.
